About time we had an episode on Saji-san. Also, a cursed roach attacks the Sanzenin household!

Plot Summary:

The episode begins with Nagi watching a horror flick. Apparently, it was “cursed” by a giant roach.

Just when Hayate was thinking about how perfect Maria was, it is revealed that Maria seems to have a major fear of roaches.

Wataru suddenly shows up, stating that Saji was acting weird lately. He recalls that he had promised Saji a furisode for her coming-of-age (Saji is 20). However, he seems to have forgotten all about it and wonders if Saji was upset because of that.

Maria is scared of roaches….MOE!

This is the first time I’ve seen Wataru actually care about someone.

Wataru asks Nagi for the money needed to buy a furisode, and apparently it costs less than 2 Ferraris Ü. He then realizes that it wouldn’t be considered a gift if he didn’t purchase it with his own money, so he bought a cheaper Yutaka instead without financial aid(around ¥50000).

Meanwhile, a giant roach from the cursed horror movie shows up in the house and chases the terrified Maria. Hayate picks her up and runs at breakneck speed, only to be ambushed by the roach. With Hayate down and nowhere to run, Maria stands up to the roach, fighting against her overwhelming fears. At last, the roach walks away (for an unknown reason), only to be dispelled by Izumi’s spells.

Nagi then tells Izumi that Wataru was planning on buying a gift for her. Apparently Wataru didn’t tell Nagi whom the gift was for, and since Wataru has a crush on Izumi, the thought that he was buying a gift for her just sprang to Nagi’s mind. At Wataru’s house , he manages to save the yutaka and avoid an awkward situation at the same time through some quick thinking. Lesson learnt for Nagi: Don’t go spreading false rumors.

Saji, Wataru, Nagi, Hayate and Maria proceeds to a fireworks festival that marks the start of summer. Could this be the start of another misunderstanding?

Of course, there was the usual cameo of Nishizawa (she was eating squids this time). Overall Score for Episode 19: 8/10

Interesting and decent episode, but -2 for Hinagiku’s absence and several minor plot holes.

Look forward to the next episode, when Nagi’s dragon faces off against Nishizawa’s hamster again!
